Crisis Resources
Legal Disclaimer: This page provides information about community crisis resources for educational purposes only. Inclusion of a resource here does not constitute an endorsement or recommendation by Slow 'n Steady Wellness, PLLC. I am not responsible for the services, policies, or practices of any third-party organizations listed. If you're experiencing a mental health emergency or are in immediate danger, options include calling 988 or 911, or going to your nearest emergency room. If making decisions feels hard right now, reaching out to a trusted loved one or neighbor for support can help.
Crisis Support Disclaimer
Slow 'n Steady Wellness does not provide crisis support or 24/7 services. However, I've compiled a list of crisis support options including phone and text lines, virtual peer support groups, mobile crisis teams, and helpful video resources.
If you're a current client, you may have a safety plan in place — revisiting that can help guide your next steps. Reaching out to a trusted family member, friend, neighbor, or support person can be helpful in moments of crisis. If those supports are unavailable or cannot provide the level of care you need, please explore the resources below and choose what feels most accessible and safe for you.
Important Considerations About Crisis Lines
Reporting policies vary. Some crisis line workers are mandated to report plans of suicide to police or emergency services. If this poses a concern or potential risk to you, I encourage you to ask about their reporting policies before sharing identifying information. From there, you can decide how much to share or whether to seek a different kind of support.
The resources highlighted below prioritize peer support and have explicit non-intervention policies — they will not trace calls or send police without your consent.
Limitations & Risks of Calling 911
If you or someone you know is in immediate, life-threatening danger and you choose to call 911, please be aware that:
Police are not mental health professionals and their involvement can pose serious risks — particularly to Black and Brown people, disabled and neurodivergent individuals, and people with other marginalized identities.
If you do call 911, consider also reaching out to community leaders, neighbors, friends, or family to be present and help advocate for safety.
Finding Support That Fits
These resources are here to support you in making choices that align with what feels safe and right for you. Your lived experience and intuition matter deeply—trust yourself to know which options resonate and which don't. There's no single "right way" to seek support during a crisis.

Learn More About Crisis Line Policies & Mobile Crisis Teams
Understanding how different crisis lines and mobile crisis teams handle police intervention can help you make informed choices about which resources feel safest for you.
About Mobile Crisis Outreach Teams (MCOTs):
MCOTs are teams of mental health professionals who provide face-to-face crisis support in the community. In Texas, MCOTs often work in collaboration with local police departments and emergency services. While MCOT clinicians lead crisis assessments and interventions, law enforcement may be involved in certain situations, particularly when there are safety concerns. When you call a crisis line to request MCOT services, you can ask about their specific policies regarding police involvement.

You Are Not Alone
Crisis can feel isolating and overwhelming. Please know that community support exists, and you deserve care that feels safe and aligned with your values. If one resource doesn't feel right, try another. You get to decide what help looks like for you, and when it’s the right one for you, you’ll know.
If you're a current client and want to discuss safety planning or additional support resources, please bring this up in our next session or reach out via your client portal to schedule a time to talk.
Please Note: This resource page has been compiled with care, drawing on information from trusted community sources, peer support organizations, and local mental health authorities. I do my best to keep this current, but resources and contact details can change. Please verify important information directly with the organization. If you notice something outdated, I'd appreciate you letting me know so I can update it.
